 The Gift Tax Return Burden Survey is an important project that can benefit you and other gift tax return filers.

We hear from taxpayers that gift tax reporting requirements are time consuming and expensive. We are conducting a survey of randomly selected taxpayers to learn more about those costs.

Your answers will help us estimate the amount of time and money it costs donors to meet their gift tax reporting requirements each year. We also use this information to learn how to reduce taxpayer burden. All information provided will be used for research purposes only and participation is voluntary. We estimate that it will take 10 to 15 minutes to complete the survey.

We are conducting a survey of randomly selected information document issuers to learn more about those costs. Your answers will help us estimate the amount of time and money all issuers spend preparing information documents, submitting them to the IRS, and providing them to taxpayers. We also use this information to learn how to reduce information document filing compliance burden.
